Operation Ice Cream for Homework!

Yes! You read the title correctly, we actually had to eat ice cream for homework as part of our assignment. As we all walked into the classroom Ms. Haseltine told us that we had homework. I just stared at her with no expressions on my face. She said “Today is my dad’s birthday, so for homework tonight I want everyone to do something nice for someone else…..He used to do that all the time”. Phew, I thought I had imagined some sort of packet full of worksheets. I was so relieved that all we had to do for homework was eat ice cream. I told my mom that we had ice cream for homework and she didn’t believe me, so I had to show her Ms.Haseltine’s blog post on her blog. I actually wrote this post in December and I was looking through my drafts and I couldn’t figure out why I didn’t post it. Although, super belated birthday to Ms.Haseltine’s dad. Comment down below what your dream homework would be?

Slice of Life Blogging Challenge

Our teacher; Ms.Haseltine has challenged our whole entire class to blog every day for the entire month of March. You only have to participate if you want to, and I decided that I would give it a try and see how it goes. This idea of blogging for the entire month of March came from a blog called Two writing teachers, and I think that it is a fantastic idea. I really enjoy blogging so I don’t think it’s going to be too hard.Just an FYI a lot of weird posts might come out this month just because I ran out of ideas. I just hope that I do complete the challenge and I don’t stop blogging in the middle.I can’t just wait to see how it goes.

The Night She Disappeared Book Review

Title: The Night She Disappeared

Author: April Henry

Genre: Action Thriller/Mystery

Rating: 5/5

What’s it about:

The Night She Disappeared is about a girl Kayla; who disappeared while making a pizza delivery. Everyone starts to think that Kayla has died, but her friends Gabie and Drew refuse to believe that she has died. So, they decide that they are going to find her.

My Thoughts:

I absolutely loved this book, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I even woke up several times during the night to wake up and read a few more pages. This book had me just turning pages, I could not put it down. I loved how April Henry wrote from each person’s point of view, so you would know each person’s reason for what they were doing. It was definitely a spine-tingling sort of book, and I would love to read and explore more of April Henry’s writing.

A Weird Dream

About a week ago, I had the weirdest dream ever. What happened was I walked into school, and everyone was stressing out about a strings test. It didn’t really surprise me because the next day I had a strings test. Although,I was confused because I knew that everyone doesn’t take strings, so I was confused why everyone was worried. I walked into Strings, and our teacher said “No one needs to take the test, everyone has received  a 100 in the grade book, except for the person that I will pull the name out of this hat”. And of course being my dream my name is the one she pulls out of the hat. I was walking up to her  to ask her why she was grading our class based off the luck of a hat, when all of  a sudden I woke up. I was so confused about what was happening, and until I had my test that day, I had a weird feeling that it might actually come true.

It’s Wednesday What are You Reading?

Hey! I was going to write one of these blog posts on Monday, but it was a holiday and I just forgot to. Well, that’s okay because I can do it right now. I am reading The Night She Disappeared by April Henry. It’s an extremely good book, it’s one of those books that you read the first page and the next time you realize you have finished about half of it. I read the first page and I wasn’t able to put it down. It’s about a girl; Kayla who disappears while she is delivering a box of pizza. And it’s really interesting because you get to read about it from different points of view, and since each character knows different things about the case. That’s what make this book impossible to put down. Let me know down below what you are reading!

Our Class Mission Statement

For the past 2 weeks , our English class has been focusing on Mission Statements. A mission statement is when a group of people come together and write their goal of their company ,organization, or individual. We first got into groups and wrote our own mission statements for the class. Then we all came together and wrote our class mission statement. I very much enjoyed writing our mission statements, because when we made our class mission statement everyone had a say in what they wanted to be put into the mission statement. We should have a class mission statement because, when we read it everyday it reminds us of our goal, and what we are striving to achieve in our English class. I think our new mission statement will help us stay more focused in our class, and remind us of our goal. I also enjoyed working in a group because we came up with many ways to make our mission statement better ,then it would be if I worked alone. Below you can find our class mission statement.

As block 3/7 strikes, we walk in with confidence.

Whenever we set goals, we never give up.

We shall guide our own path,

be it on paper or in the classroom.

Let’s explore and make mistakes, and

together we’ll become connected in friendship.

We embrace the opportunity of our education.

We are here because we have the freedom to learn.

In this creative class, we are allowed to be messy, different,

and make unique decisions!

We have the power to write our own story.

We can inspire others or express ourselves, because

WE MATTER!

My OLW ( One Little Word )

My OLW is : Cherish. You might be wondering what an OLW is, an OLW stands for One Little Word, some people pick a new word every year, and that word in some way helps them. According to the dictionary my word means ” to hold dear: feel or show affection”. However, to me my word means to give thanks for the little things in life. My word is an transitive verb. Three synonyms of my word are adore, love, and worship. Three antonyms of my word are abhor, despise, and loathe. My OLW looks like a calm and peaceful meadow, where all you hear are the calm sounds of nature. My OLW feels like I am at a safe place where I am loved. My OLW sounds like the calm sounds of birds chirping in the distance. My OLW will help me remember to be grateful for the little things in life, and help me remember to always be grateful for the things you have. So, whats your word of this year for 2017, comment below and let me know!

Middle of the Year Reflection

Believe it or not, but half of the school year is almost over. I absolutely can not believe that I have come this far in only a few months. When I first started middle school I was a complete mess, I used to always be tensed about everything and used to have a few problems with organization. Whenever my mom told me to clean my room I used to delay it for days and sometimes even weeks. Opening my locker for me was literally impossible ,in fact it used to take at least 10 tries to get my locker to open. It’s absolutely amazing how much I have changed in the past couple of months, I feel atleast a 1000 times more responsible, I have managed to keep my locker and my room clean at all times, and work hard in school to get good grades and make it into the all A honor roll. I have finally mastered to open my locker in only one try. Middle school, has a few bumps here and there but overall I am absolutely loving it, I would definitely need to thank all of my teachers for being supportive and helping me adjust to middle school.

An Attack on Pearl Harbor

A few days ago it was the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. If you are asking yourself what was the attack on Pearl Harbor, then let me tell you a few basic facts. “The attack on Pearl Harbor, was a surprise military strike by the Imperial Japanese Navy against the the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaiian Territory”, according to Wikipedia.“ More than 2,000 American soldiers and sailors died in the attack, and 1,000 were wounded”, according to History.com. This attack led to the United States entry into World War 2, because of these attacks and everyone that died. I think it is important to do something nice for each other as well as appreciate everyone that died serving for the United States . So, I challenge everyone to go out and do something nice for someone else, try to brighten up their day. As well as be grateful for your amazing country.
